A. There are several reasons all of which are under Benefits of Seal Coating. The one main reason is longevity of your asphalt. Protected asphalt will last up to 300 times longer than asphalt that is not coated.
Q. How soon can I seal coat my fresh laid asphalt pavement?
A. As soon as the asphalt is rid of the light oils through oxidation. This usually takes about 4-6 weeks.
Q. What time of the year can Seal Coating be done?
A. Starting in the spring when temperatures are expected to remain above 50 degrees F.
Q. How long should seal coating last?
A. The how long is dependent on the amount of traffic, and tire wear. Those areas that have low traffic could last up to three to four years, where areas that have high traffic may only last a year. The mix design used in a given area also has a lot to due with how long it will last.
Q. Which type of marking paint should I have used after seal coating my lot, and how soon?
A. Water based paints are preferred, with at least 24 hr of cure time before application of any paints.
